Central America Colonial Route 12 days

Day 1 º.(TUE)  – Guatemala Airport – Guatemala City
Arrival to Guatemala City Airport. Transfer to your hotel. Lodging.

Day 2 º.(WED) – Guatemala – Iximche – Atitlán
Breakfast. Departure to the Highlands of Guatemala. In route, we will visit the archaeological site Iximché, the ancient Maya Capital of the Cakchiquel Kingdom. After the visit, we continue to Lake Atitlán, which according to Huxley is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. Lodging.

Day 3º. (THU) – Atitlán – Chichicastenango – Atitlán
Breakfast. In the morning: transfer to the village of Chichicastenango, where we will visit one of the most famous indigenous markets in all Latin America. That day, we will enjoy a living experience. We will visit a community project in an indigenous town where the travelers will have a corn workshop with local women. Corn is the most important staple food in Guatemala. Lodging.

Day 4º. (FRI) – Atitlán – Santiago – La Antigua
Breakfast. Today we will take a boat to visit the village Tzutuhil of Santiago Atitlán. After the excursion, we will continue to La Antigua, arrival in mid-afternoon and orientation tour in this colonial city declared World Heritage Site: ride to the Cathedral, central plaza, main monuments and museums. Lodging.

Day 5º (SAT) – La Antigua
Breakfast. We have the day free to enjoy La Antigua and its facilities of the hotel. As an optional activity, in the morning, we can take an excursion to Pacaya Volcano. Lodging.

Day 6º (SUN) -La Antigua – Jewel of Cerén – Suchitoto
Breakfast. Departure to El Salvador, a country that has been considered as the best kept secret of Central America. After the immigration procedures, arrival to Jewel of Cerén, archaeological site declared Cultural Heritage of the World by UNESCO. Over the visit, we will continue to Suchitoto. Lodging.

Day 7º (MON) – Suchitoto
Breakfast. We will spend the morning visiting the best-preserved colonial town in this country, important for the commerce of indigo during the period of the colony. Free afternoon. Lodging.

Day 8º (TUE) – Suchitoto – Golfo de Fonseca – León
Breakfast. Early in the morning, departure to La Unión port to cross by boat the Fonseca Gulf. During our sailing we will enjoy of a beautiful landscape with volcanoes, small villages and native fishermen of the 20 small islands of the area. We may watch exotic flora and fauna typical of the region. Arrival to Potosí (Nicaragua). After immigration, we will continue to León. Lodging.

Day 9º (WED) – León
Breakfast. Visit the Colonial City of León, home of the famous writer Rubén Darío. We will visit the Churches La Recolección, the Calvary and the largest Cathedral of Central America, where the poet was buried. Afternoon free. Lodging.

Day 10º (THU) – León – Mayasa – Granada
Breakfast. Departure to Masaya, named “City of Flowers”. Visit the National Park Volcano Masaya and the Market, ending our visit at the landscape viewpoint of the city. Lunch included. In the afternoon, we will continue to Granada, the first founded city over the West Hemisphere by Francisco Hernández de Córdoba. Lodging.

Day 11º (FRI) – Granada – Isletas – Granada
Breakfast. Morning boat ride along the small islands of the largest lake of Central America. The tour provides the opportunity to observe a wide variety of local and migrant poultries that take this nature wonder as their nest. Free afternoon to visit the city of Granada on our own and discover the secrets of this colonial gem.  Lodging.

Day 12º (SAT) – Granada – International Airport
Breakfast. Transfer to the International Airport. End of our services.



Day 5 – Optional Tikal Tour. Full Day  
Airport transfers from Guatemala or La Antigua to take the flight to Flores. Land transfer to Tikal National Park. Visit to the Mayan city. Lunch. Return to Flores to take a flight back to Guatemala, transfer to the hotel.


Beach Extensions Nicaragua

San Juan Del Sur

Day 12º (SAT) – Granada – San Juan Del Sur  
Breakfast. Transfer to San Juan Del Sur, located at the Pacific coast of Nicaragua at a wonderful bay of white sand beaches. The day is on your own to enjoy of the place. At night you can taste the excellent seafood and enjoy the nice bars with bohemian style. Lodging.

Day 13º (SUN) – San Juan Del Sur    
Breakfast.  Free day to enjoy a beautiful day at the beach, relax or explore on your own this quiet village of fishermen. There are optional activities like surfing, sport fishing and snorkeling. You also can choose to make a walking tour to the beach to the William Walker Fortress. Lodging.

Day 14º (MON) – San Juan Del Sur – Managua –  International Airport      
Breakfast. Transfer to Managua to take the flight back to our destination.


Day 12º (SAT) – Granada – Montelimar         
Breakfast. Transfer to Montelimar, located at the Pacific Coast of Nicaragua. The rest of the day is free to relax at the beach or enjoy the variety of activities offered by the team of the hotel. Lodging (all inclusive plan) at Hotel Barceló Montelimar.

Day 13º (SUN)  – Montelimar                
Breakfast. Free day. Lodging (all inclusive plans).

Day 14º (MON) – Montelimar – Managua – Airport Internacional        
Breakfast. Transfer to Managua for boarding flight back home 

Corn Island

Day 12º (SAT) – Granada – Corn Island          
Breakfast. Very early in the morning: transfer from Granada to the International Airport to take a short flight to Big Corn Island. At our arrival: transfer to the municipal dock to continue by boat to Little Corn Island.  Rest of the day is on your own to enjoy at the crystalline water beaches of the Caribbean side of Nicaragua.

Day 13º (SUN) – Corn Island              
Breakfast. Free day to enjoy the sun and relax or to explore on your own this quiet Caribbean island. We recommend optional activities such as kayaking, fishing or diving. You can take a walk on the beach to go around the island. Lodging.

Day 14º (MON) -Corn Island – Managua – International Airport                   
Breakfast. Free time. At the right time, transfer by speed boat to the pier of Big Corn Island to take a flight to Managua and connect to your next destination.
