Complete Guatemala 13 days

Day 1º.(TUE) – Guatemala Airport – Guatemala
Arrival to the International airport and transfer to your hotel in Guatemala City. Lodging.

Day 2º.(WED) – Guatemala – Iximche – Atitlán
Breakfast. Departure to the Guatemalan Highlands. In route we will visit Iximché, the old Maya Capital of the Cakchiquel Kingdom. We will continue to Lake Atitlán, that once Aldous Huxley said “it is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world”. Lodging.

Day 3º.(THU) – Atitlán – Chichicastenango – Atitlán
Breakfast. In the morning: transfer to the village of Chichicastenango, where we will visit one of the most famous indigenous markets in all Latin America. That day, we will enjoy a living experience, where the travelers will have a corn workshop with local women. Corn is the most important staple food in Guatemala. Lodging.

Day 4º.(FRI) – Atitlán – Santiago –  San Andrés Xecul – Quetzaltenango
Breakfast. In the morning, we will take a boat to visit the Tzutuhil village of Santiago Atitlán. After the excursion, we will go on to Quetzaltenango, to visit this colonial town that preserves the ancient traditions of its Maya-Quiche lineage, combined with the colonial past and the dynamics of modern life. On our way, we will visit San Andrés Xecul, which has a stunning parish church with a spectacular façade. Lodging.

Day 5º.(SAT) -Quetzaltenango –  Almolonga – Zunil – Salcajá  – Guatemala
Breakfast. Today we will visit the market at Almolonga, known for its generous crops. We will continue to Zunil, one of the pre-Columbian villages, known for its regional fabrics. We will visit Salcajá, the first producer of mottled fabrics, used by women in their clothing. We will also visit the Church of La Conquistadora, which was the first Catholic Church in Guatemala. After these excursions, we will go back to Guatemala City. Lodging.

Day 6º.(TUE) – Guatemala – Copán
Breakfast. We will depart from Guatemala City, and cross to Honduran territory to visit Copán, a Mayan civilization: Stelae, pyramids, ball courts. Lodging.

Day 7º.(WED) – Copán – Quirigua – Izabal Area
Breakfast. Departure to the Caribbean side of Guatemala On our way, we will visit the archaeological center of Quiriguá, which has some of the best stelae that the Mayans raised. We will arrive to Izabal to mid-morning. Lodging.

Day 8º.(THU) – Izabal Area – Río Dulce – Petén
Breakfast. Morning boat ride through Río Dulce, a  unique place of ecological and natural richness. Through the ride, we will go by boat to the touristic site of Cayo Quemado, to have a living experience.  With the community members, we will enjoy a culinary workshop preparing a delicious winkle (also known as “burro”) or shrimp and coconut ceviche. After lunch, we will continue our boat tour and head to Río Dulce town, where our transportation is going to be waiting to continue our trip to Petén jungle. Lodging.

Day 9º.(TUE) – Petén – Tikal – Petén
Breakfast. Today we will visit the Mayan city of Tikal, the jewel of the classic Maya World. Lunch in the archaeological site.  Rest of the afternoon will be free to enjoy a walk-through Flores Island, with a relaxing view of Lake Petén Itzá. Lodging.

Day 10º.(MON) – Petén – Yaxhá – La Antigua
Breakfast.  We will spend this morning visiting Yaxhá, an archaeological site located on the shores of the Lagoon of the same name.   Lunch and transfer to the airport to fly back to Guatemala City.  Transfer to La Antigua Guatemala.  Lodging.

Day 11º.(TUES) – La Antigua
Breakfast. We will have a free day to make an optional excursion to a coffee farm, where we will discover how one of the best coffees of the world is produced: Visit to the plantation, nursery area, wet and dry mills, sun drying patios, roasting and packing areas. Lodging.

Day 12º.(SAT) – La Antigua – Volcán Pacaya – La Antigua
Breakfast. In the morning we will go to the foot of the Pacaya Volcano, from there we will begin an ascent of little difficulty. After an hour of hiking, we will be in the plateau of the volcano from where we will be able to appreciate the crater of one of the three active volcanoes of Guatemala. Free afternoon. Lodging.

Day 13º.(SUN)- La Antigua –  Guatemala Airport
Breakfast. Transfer to Guatemala City Airport. End of our services.
