Day 1º. (THU) Airport – San Salvador
Arrival to Guatemala City airport and transfer to your hotel in Salvador. Lodging.
Day 2 (FRI) El Salvador – Tazumal – Santa Ana- Joya de Cerén – Suchitoto
Breakfast. Departure to the archeological site of Tazumal, the most important Mayan ceremonial center in El Salvador. We will continue to Santa Ana, the second most important city in the country. We will visit its charming historic centre, the National Theatre, the central square and the Gothic-style cathedral. Then we’ll go to the archaeological site Joya de Cerén, declared World Heritage by UNESCO and known as the Mayan Pompeii. Undoubtedly, this is one of the most important archaeological discoveries in Latin America. In the afternoon: transfer to the colonial city of Suchitoto. Lodging.
Day 3 (SAT) Suchitoto
Breakfast. Today, we’ll have a walking tour along Suchitoto, visiting its beautiful cobbled streets, art galleries, craft houses, its Central Park and the church of Santa Lucia. Free afternoon for optional activities such as an indigo workshop or a boat trip along Suchitlán Lake. Lodging.
Day 4 (SUN) Suchitoto – Copán
Breakfast. Early departure to the border with Honduras. During the day, we will cross the Honduran border to visit Copan, which keeps stelae, pyramids, ball games and unique burials in the Mayan world. Lodging.
Day 5 (MON) Copán – Guatemala City
Breakfast. Morning transfer to Guatemala City, one of the most modern cities in Central America. Lodging.
Day 6 (TUE) Guatemala City
Breakfast. We will have the day off to enjoy the hotel facilities or, as an optional activity, take a trip to Tikal, the jewel of the classic Mayan world, take a trip to the Pacaya volcano or a cultural visit to the city, visiting its central square, Ixchel Museum, Av. Reforma, etc. Lodging.
Day 7º. (WED) Guatemala – Iximché – Atitlán
Breakfast. Departure to Guatemala Highlands. On our way, we will visit Iximché, an archaeological site that was the Old Mayan Capital of the Cakchiquel Kingdom. We will continue to Lake Atitlán, that the expert Aldous Huxley said “it is the one of the most beautiful lakes in the world”. Lodging.
Day 8º. (THU) Atitlán – Chichicastenango – Atitlán
Breakfast. In the morning: transfer to village of Chichicastenango, where we will visit one of the most famous indigenous markets in all Latin America. That day, we will enjoy a living experience, where the travellers will have a corn workshop with local women. Corn is the most important staple food in Guatemala. Lodging.
Day 09º. (FRI) Atitlán – Santiago – La Antigua
Breakfast. Today we will take a boat to visit the village Tzutuhil of Santiago Atitlán. After the excursion, we will continue to La Antigua, arrival in mid-afternoon and orientation tour in this colonial city declared World Heritage Site: ride to the Cathedral, central plaza, main monuments and museums. Lodging.
Day 10º. (SAT) La Antigua – Guatemala Airport
Breakfast. Transfer to the International Airport of Guatemala City. End of our services.
