Day 1| SAT – Guatemala Airport – La Antigua
Arrival to Guatemala City Airport. Transfer to La Antigua. Lodging at Hotel Villa Colonial.
Day 2| SUN – La Antigua – Pacaya Volcano – La Antigua
Breakfast. Departure to San Vicente Pacaya, the spot to start climbing the Pacaya Volcano, one of the easiest volcanoes to climb in the country. We will reach the cone of the volcano to a distance of 100 meters approximately. The Pacaya Volcano is one of the three active volcanoes of the country that remains active almost all the year round. Return to La Antigua. Lodging at Hotel Villa Colonial.
Day 3| MON – La Antigua – Acatenango Volcano
Breakfast. Early departure to La Soledad community, where we will start climbing the Volcano Acatenango, the third highest volcano of Guatemala with 3,875 meters/12713 feet. We will have the opportunity to find corn plantations, pine forests of the region until approaching our camping site. At the top of the hills we will enjoy the impressive landscapes of the rest of the volcanoes of the Guatemalan Highlands and a fantastic event if Fuego Volcano is active. Our staff will provide lunch, dinner and camping equipment near the crater.
Day 4| TUE – Acatenango Volcano – Quetzaltenango
Breakfast at the camping. We will have the opportunity to move up to the peak of the volcanic cone to get a spectacular view of 360 degrees from this point. It will take us 3.5 hrs approximately to descend and arrive again to La Antigua to refresh and continue. In the evening: transfer to Quetzaltenango, the second most important department of Guatemala. Quetzaltenango is located at the west side of the country. Lodging at Pensión Bonifaz.
Day 5| WED – Quetzaltenango – Santa María Volcano
Breakfast. We will drive to the slopes of Santa María Volcano, the fourth highest volcano of Guatemala that had one of the more violent eruptions of the XX Century, in 1922. It is located at a mountain zone in the west of Quetzaltenango, and reaches a high of 3,775 meters (12,385 feet) over sea level. It takes around 4 hours to ascend. On the highest spot of this impressive volcano we will have a wonderful view to a dozen of Guatemalan volcanoes. Camping.
Day 6| THU – Santa María Volcano – Lake Atitlán
Breakfast at the campsite and descent. We will descend and have time to rest and refresh in Quetzaltenango. We’ll go on to Lake Atitlán, of which Huxley said to be the most beautiful in the world. Lodging at Hotel Regis.
Day 7| FRI – Atitlán – San Pedro Volcano – Atitlán
Breakfast. In the morning we will start climbing the San Pedro Volcano, one of the three impressive volcanoes that surround the beautiful Lake Atitlán (3.020 meters/9.908 feet over sea level). To move up and down will take us around 4.5 hours. Time to enjoy the wonderful landscape towards the beautiful Lake and the rest of the volcanoes of the region. Descent and transfer to the hotel. Lodging at Hotel Regis.
Day 8| SAT – Lake Atitlán – Guatemala City
Breakfast. Time at leisure to enjoy a Mayan sauna (Temascal) or take a morning boat ride to the indigenous villages that surround the majestic Lake Atitlán. Return to Guatemala City. Lodging at Hotel Barceló.
Day 9| SUN – Guatemala City – Guatemala Airport
Breakfast and transfer to the airport to fly back to your destination. End of our services.
